Man oh man. The Kool-aid is really sweet tasting this year. As I read about thinner, stronger, faster players that are having a great time. There was a link to some comments from Ron Brown about how the coaches build chemistry with openness and creating a safe, but not soft, environment for the players and each other.
I hope we have the talent to match the motivation. One big question is whether the newbies can step up as we get beat up? Our Linebackers and Defensive line are thin, like wafer thin with depth. Can Compton, Baker, etc learn enough fast enough to contribute when we hit the tough games in October?
I tend to not drink the kool-aid during the preseason talk. Typically the quotes are about how some player is on fire, how everyone is working well together, blah, blah, blah. Until they get on the field, it is all talk.
That being said, I can't help but think we will be much, much better this year, at least on defense, just because, well, it would be almost impossible to be worse.
